A Bible Song About Dads in the Bible by The Scripture Lady June 05 2018, 0 Comments

Here is a Bible song about dads in the Bible that teaches about six famous dads in the Word of God. Your children will learn about Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David.

Last year, I took the opportunity to write a chapel program that I called "Let's Learn About Dads in the Bible." I soon wrote a Bible song about dads in the Bible that would creatively share about six famous men in God's Word - Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David.

Being a dad is one of the greatest gifts God gives to a man and being a dad takes a lot of hard work and love. I believe every dad from the beginning of time has faced many of the same issues of fatherhood as all of us. They have learned how to love and guide their children carefully throughout the journey of life. But the greatest of all dads will teach their children about the greatest of all fathers - God the Father.

My Bible song about dads in the Bible showcases six men who were faithful to share the love of God with their children. None of them were perfect, but each chose to follow the One and True God.

This Bible song about dads in the Bible is a singing game. As I sing about each of the dads, I show a picture of each of the dads and the children have to find the matching picture. I have provided you with six pictures of these dads that you can use with this song or in any other way you choose.

Check out this sample video of the moves to this song:

.....................................................................................

Here are the lyrics to this Bible song about dads in the Bible:

There are many great dads in the Bible. Let's take some time to learn a few.

God has a plan for every dad, just like He has great plans for you.

OK. Let's learn about some of the dads in the Bible.

I will sing about a dad and show you a picture of that dad, then one of you will get to come forward and find the picture on my banner. Are you ready? Here we go!

Adam was the first dad God did make. Cain and Abel were his two boys.

But Cain was very jealous of Abel which took away their father's great joy.

Who can find the picture of Adam?

Noah was blessed with 3 strong sons who helped him build the ark

Noah showed a mighty faith in God even when the world became very dark

Who can find the picture of Noah?

Abraham was a very old man when God promised him a son

Through Isaac, Abraham became the father of many nations

Who can find the picture of Abraham?

Isaac was doubly blessed by God. He had two boys, twins!

The boys tricked their father, but then they learned that dishonesty never wins

Who can find the picture of Isaac?

Jacob loved Joseph very much. Joseph was his favorite child.

He gave Joseph a special coat. I'm sure this made Joseph smile

Who can find the picture of Jacob?

David had a son named Solomon who was very wise

David and Solomon both were kings. Their lives had lows and highs

Who can find the picture of David?

A Bible Verse Song for John 14:27 by The Scripture Lady May 14 2018, 0 Comments

Here is a Bible verse song for John 14:27 that I call "Do Not Be Afraid." It is a very sweet song with a lullaby feel. It beautifully describes the wonderful peace that Jesus wants to give each and every one of us.

My very first musical Bible program for children was called "The Fruit of the Spirit" and I wanted to include a Bible verse song for John 14:27 to showcase the fruit of peace.

John 14:27 says this: Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

This is definitely one of the most beautiful verses on peace. What a wonderful Savior we serve! And how blessed we are that we can trust in Him at all times an not be afraid.

Turn It Over: A Super Bible School Activity for Elementary Kids Based on Revelation 21:4 May 01 2018, 0 Comments

Here is a fun Bible activity for your kids to play to help them learn Revelation 21:4!

Do you know what I look forward to about Heaven?  All the “No Mores,” For instance, “no more death”,  “no more crying” and “no more pain.”  Revelation 21:4 says it perfectly:

“…There will be no more death or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away.”   Our children need to be aware of the “No Mores” also.  Here is a fun Bible School activity to help them learn of the things that WON’T be in Heaven.  It’s called “Turn It Over!”

Here’s what you do:

For this activity, you will need to make a big die. I made mine from a box about 8” square.  The 6 sides will have the typical numbers 1 through 6.  You will also need to make 2 sets of the following 12 cards:

1. death/life

2. crying/joy

3. pain/healing

4. lies/truth

5. guilt/freedom

6. murder/love for life

7. stealing/giving

8. idol worship/worship God

9. bad language/praise

10. hate/love

11. greed/contentment

12. selfishness/thinks of others

Each will have a back and front as described below.  You could simply write the words on each card or get a little creative and add some pictures to each card.  For ease of play, choose a red color of paper for all the ‘bad” things and a green color of paper for all the “good” things.  Also, make sure each card includes the number as well.  Place each set of cards in numerical order on either 2 tables or 2 packet charts.  You are now ready to play the game.

How to play:

Dived your class into 2 teams.  A player from team one will come forward and roll the big die 2 times.  He will then get to choose one of the “no more” cards from his set of cards to be turned over according to the following rules:

1. A player must turn over the total he throws.  A player who throws a 3 and a 4 may turn over the 7 on their set of cards…OR

2. A player may turn over two cards that add up to the total thrown – suppose a player throws a 6 and a 1.  The player may turn over a 6 and a 1; or 5 and 2; or 4 and 3; or 1, 2 and 4 – all equaling a total of 7.

3. If a player cannot turn over a number on a throw because the number has already been turned over, the die is passed to the next player.  The player does not turn over any numbers on that turn.

The first team to turn over all of their “No Mores” is the winner.

Tip:  You may want to require that a child recite Revelation 21:4 before getting to throw the dice.

Before playing the game, you may want to introduce the lesson in the following way:

What do you look forward to about Heaven?  (Wait for responses.)  Do you want to know what I look forward to?  I look forward to the “No Mores”.  You know…no more death, no more crying and no more pain!  Who wants to read Revelation 21:4?  (Wait for response.)  Revelation 21:4 paints a perfect picture of eternal life with Jesus.  Let’s play a fun Bible school activity to help us learn about the “No Mores” and their opposites in Heaven.

At this point, explain the rules of the game and show our class and discuss the opposites to each of the “No Mores” on each of the cards.

.............................................................................................

“There will be no more death or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away.”

Revelation 21:4

The Gospel Fuzzy Song - A Fun Bible Song for Your Kids - Based on the Wordless Book Colors April 24 2018, 0 Comments

The Gospel Fuzzy song will definitely delight

your children as they hear the 5 Gospel

Fuzzies creatively sing about the Gospel!

I have been singing the Gospel Fuzzy song for years now and children of all ages never seem to tire of hearing it.  It is always a big hit in my teacher training workshops and I simply love sharing it. As you can see in the video, this version of the Gospel Fuzzy song requires a couple of props. First, you will need the Gospel Fuzzy puppet.
This can simply be made from black glove and 5 pom-poms in the following colors: yellow, black, red, white and green. Attach some cute googly eyes to each of the pom-poms and then attach each pom-pom to the following fingers: thumb - green, pointer - white, middle - red, ring - black and pinky - gold. The other prop you will need is a small Bible.
I actually use a pretend Bible that I made out of a decorative box. It holds my glove puppet after I'm done.

Here are the words to the song along with my additional comments:

We're the gospel fuzzies (Repeat)

And we want you to know

Gold stands for heaven (Repeat)

Where I want to go

(Do you want to go to Heaven too some day?)

Dark means I'm a sinner (Repeat)

So, I can't go to heaven

(What am I going to do?)

Red means Jesus died (Repeat)

To forgive my sins

(Yippee!)

Clean means I'm forgiven (Repeat)

And I'm clean within

(Isn't Jesus wonderful?)

Green means I'm growing (Repeat)

In my friendship with Him

We're the gospel fuzzies (Repeat)

And we want you to know

(Goodbye!)

==================

The Gospel Fuzzy song comes from the concept of the Wordless Book. If you're not familiar with this wonderful evangelism tool, you might want to click here to learn more. Basically, the Wordless Book takes the 5 colors mentioned above and shares the Gospel in an easy understandable and memorable way.

So, what are you waiting for? Go make your Gospel Fuzzies today and share it right away. Your kids will love them!

"Let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles us an let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

Peter Heals Tabitha - A Creative Idea for Sharing This Miracle in the Bible April 06 2018, 0 Comments

The Bible story of when Peter heals Tabitha is one of the greatest miracles in God's Word. I love coming up with creative ways to share the Bible and writing Bible story songs is a perfect way to teach God's stories. Follow along with the words of this song to teach your children that God is a miracle-working God!

I love the story of when Peter heals Tabitha. In fact, God used Peter to do more than heal Tabitha, God used Peter to bring Tabitha back to life! This wonderful story is told in Acts 9:36-41, which says:

36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and deeds which she did.

37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive. (King James Version, In the Public Domain)

What a GREAT story! When Peter heals Tabitha, I'm sure there was much rejoicing of all around who witnessed the miracle.

You can help your children rejoice anew at this miracle by sharing the words below to the song I have written.

Here is a video showing a LIVE performance of me performing "Peter Heals Tabitha" at a preschool while using Steve Axtell's Magic Drawing Board:

Here are the words to the song "Peter Heals Tabitha"

Hello! My name is Tabitha, but in the Greek language my name is Dorcas and I love to sew.

SL: Really? I love to sew too! What kind of things do you sew?

T: I love to sew clothes

Sewing! Sewing! Needle and thread in hand.

I love sewing clothes for children, women and men.

I sew for those with no money to spare.

But because God's good to me they have clothes to wear.

SL: That's wonderful, Tabitha! God has given you an amazing talent that can help lots of people.

T: Oh, yes! Sewing is one of the greatest gifts God has given me. But do you want to know the greatest gift God gave to me?

SL: Of course! What is it?

T: My life.

One day when I was sewing I started to feel sick

I was very dizzy then fell down like a brick

My friends they took me to my bed and found that I was dead

They took me to the upstairs room and covered up my head.

SL: Tabitha, what did you do?

T: I couldn't do anything, dear. I assure you that I was quite dead. But I can tell you what I wish I had been doing.

Sewing! Sewing! Needle and thread in hand.

I love sewing clothes for children, women and men.

I sew for those with no money to spare.

But because God's good to me they have clothes to wear.

SL: Well, you obviously didn't stay dead! What happened to you?

Some friends had heard that Peter was in the town near by.

Two men were sent to Peter while the women stood and cried.

Peter was a friend of Jesus, the Lord he did obey

When he arrived my friends showed him all the clothes I'd made

They said she loved:

Sewing! Sewing! Needle and thread in hand.

She loved sewing clothes for children, women and men.

She sewed for those with no money to spare.

Because God was so good to her we had clothes to wear.

SL: What happened next?

Peter sent my friends out then on his knees he prayed

He said, "Tabitha, get up." And my body did obey.

I opened up my eyes to see Peter standing there

He took me by the hand. I was alive and I was well!

Now, I could get back to...

Sewing! Sewing! Needle and thread in hand.

I love sewing clothes for children, women and men.

I sew for those with no money to spare.

But because God's good to me they have clothes to wear.

SL: That is an amazing story, Tabitha!

T: Oh, yes it is! Even though Jesus had already risen and gone back to Heaven, Jesus heard Peter's prayer and gave me back my life. It was a miracle. And many people in my town of Joppa believed in Jesus because of the miracle He did in my life.

Well, I must be going now! I have more sewing to do! Goodbye, dear!

SL: Goodbye, Tabitha!

The Fruit of the Spirit Song with Creative Props - by The Scripture Lady April 02 2018, 0 Comments

My Fruit of the Spirit song is one of the very first Bible verse songs I ever wrote and it is still one of my favorites. The kids love when I sing this song along with my fun Fruit of the Spirit boards and my bopper. Add these creative props to your own worship or teaching time in your classrooms or homes.

The Fruit of the Spirit song comes from Galatians 5:22-23, which says this: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

Learning the Fruit of the Spirit should be a goal for every one of us, especially for our children. Whether you are a parent or teacher, you can have lots of fun teaching these great Bible verses to your kids. And whatever version of a Fruit of the Spirit song you use, with a little help with some creative props, your children will have all 9 "fruits" memorized.

Prop #1: Fruit of the Spirit Boards When I sing my Fruit of the Spirit song, I use some boards that have all 9 of the fruits listed on 3 separate signs that look like this:   I made my boards nice and strong so that they would last a long time. You can make your own boards by following my design above.

Prop #2: The Bopper When performing my Fruit of the Spirit song, I use one of my favorite props that I call a "Bopper." A bopper is simply a dowel rod with a sponge ball attached to the end of it. Here is a picture:

Prop #3: A Big Bible Of course, you can use a regular size Bible, but if you have one of those big "family" Bibles, it will be more engaging for the kids. One of my mottos in children's ministry is: The bigger the better. Here is a picture of a big "family" Bible:

How to share the Fruit of the Spirit Song

For this song, you will need to pick 4 kids to "be on stage" with you. You will give the first 3 kids one of the boards to hold. The fourth child will hold the Bible in their hands. You, the teacher, are in charge of the bopper. As you sing the song, you will lightly bop each of the sign holders on their heads, while standing behind them, indicating that they are to turn one full turn around as fast as they can. I created the boards so that each "fruit" in the song gets its own "bop."

When you sing the reference to the song, Galatians 5:22, you will then bop the child holding the Bible. This is the cue for all the class to get out of their seats and turn around along with the child holding the Bible. That's it! It's simple and very fun. Props can make a BIG difference in your children's ministry!

God Created Animals - A Bible Activity that Teaches Job 12.7-10 March 31 2018, 0 Comments

Kids love animals. It's important that they know that God created animals. Job 7:10 says this: "In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind." This is a great truth and here is a fun Bible activity to help your children know that their lives and the lives of all creatures are in God's hand.

If you can combine the Bible with animals, you will have a winning combination when teaching your kids the truth that God created animals.
Here is a fun Bible game that I call, "Grab the Animal." You can use this Bible game to help teach Job 12:7-10, which says:
7 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you.
9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.
These are great verses! I believe that this verse can teach your kids the following important points:
1. We can learn about God from the animals. We may not be able to talk to animals like good ole' Doctor Dolittle, but we can definitely learn from them that God is incredibly creative, powerful and loving.
2. We can learn that God is the creator of all. Sadly to say, many humans do not recognize God Almighty as their Creator and yet this verse says that the animals know it's the hand of the Lord that has given them life.
3. We can learn that our lives are God's hand. This should be a very comforting thought. Life is always changing. But God is always constant and He will keep us safely in His hands, loving and caring for us like the good Father that He is.
Take time to point out these thoughts as you play "Grab the Animal" to teach your kids that God created animals and them, too.
What you need for this Bible game:
For this game:
1. you will need to download the 10 digital files of animal sounds that I have provided for you down below.
2. you will need to gather pictures of the 10 animals plus 10 more pictures of other animals that are not showcased in the animal sounds I've given you. Therefore, you will have a total of 20 animal pictures.
3. you will need to use a big enough container that will hold all 20 pictures. Place all the pictures face down in the container.
4. you will need to display the words to Job 12:10 on a board or pocket chart.
How to play:
1. Divide your class into two teams.
2. Share Job 12:7-10 and ask the kids to name their favorite animals.
3. Encourage the kids to memorize Job 12:10 by repeating it several times.
4. Talk about the 3 points that I shared above. Ask them if they can think of different ways that we can learn about God from animals. For example, they might say that the ant teaches us to be hard workers. God wants us to be hard workers and responsible, too.
5. Show the children the container of pictures and show them one picture at a time. Let them tell you the name of each animal.
6. Tell the children that they are going to take turns listening to the sound of an animal. They will have 10 seconds to grab one picture at a time in the container until they believe they have found the animal that corresponds to the sound. If they picked the right animal, they must then say Job 12:10 from memory. They can do this by looking at the verse you have displayed, but before they went grabbing for the right animal, you will have turned over some of the words. They must say the verse including the missing words.
7. If the child says the verse correctly, he will get 100 points for his team.

Easter is Coming - A Bible Holiday Song for Easter by The Scripture Lady March 28 2018, 0 Comments

"Easter is Coming" is a Bible holiday song to help your children learn that Easter is not about bunnies or eggs or a brand new dress or suit. Easter is about how Jesus gave His life upon the cross to save us from our sin. Easter is about God's great love for you and me.

It's almost Easter! Spring has arrived and so has the holiday that celebrates that Jesus is ALIVE! Try singing this new Bible holiday song for Easter to help your kids know the true meaning of Easter.

I wrote this Bible holiday song for Easter last year and it has quickly become one of my favorites to sing to kids.

Check out this sample video of the moves to this song:

Here are the lyrics to this Bible holiday song for Easter:

Easter is Coming!

Easter is coming! Easter is coming! I'm so excited for Easter!

Easter is coming! Easter is coming! I'm so excited for that day!

It's not about bunnies. It's not about eggs.  It's not about basketfuls of candy.

It's all about Jesus and the love that He gave when He rose from the grave!

Easter is coming! Easter is coming! I'm so excited for Easter!

Easter is coming! Easter is coming! I'm so excited for that day!

It's not about bonnets or a pair of new shoes or a brand new dress or suit

It's all about Jesus and His great love for you 'cause He's no longer in the tomb

Easter is coming! Easter is coming! I'm so excited for Easter!

Easter is coming! Easter is coming! I'm so excited for that day!

Easter has some sad parts, this is quite true

Jesus died upon the cross for me and you

But an angel came and said,  "Jesus is not dead! He's alive! He's alive! It's true!"

Easter is coming! Easter is coming! I'm so excited for Easter!

Easter is coming! Easter is coming! I'm so excited for that day!
